Spurs Rival Arsenal for Eberechi Eze to Replace Injured Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur is actively exploring a deal for Crystal Palace and England forward Eberechi Eze as a potential replacement for the injured James Maddison. The move comes after Maddison was ruled out for the majority of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, prompting new manager Thomas Frank to seek reinforcements in the attacking midfield.

Sources indicate that while Spurs are also in discussions with Manchester City for winger Savinho, Eze is emerging as a player of serious interest. Tottenham has not yet confirmed whether they will pursue both players.

Eze, 27, has been a standout performer for Crystal Palace, scoring 14 goals across all competitions last season. This included the winning goal in their 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final. He has also become a regular for the England national team, earning 11 caps since his debut in 2023 and making three appearances at Euro 2024.

He joined Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020 for a fee of £19.5 million and has since made 168 appearances, scoring 40 goals. His current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2027.

Tottenham is not the only club interested in the talented midfielder. North London rivals Arsenal have also shown interest, though they are currently focused on offloading players like Leandro Trossard, Reiss Nelson, and Fabio Vieira. It remains to be seen if Tottenham’s pursuit will push Arsenal to accelerate their own efforts to sign the England international.
