In a significant victory against insecurity, Nigerian Army troops in Kogi State have successfully eliminated Babangida Kachala, a notorious bandit and the second-in-command of a criminal gang terrorizing the region.
The operation, which took place on September 11, was a collaborative effort between the 12 Brigade Nigerian Army and the Other Hybrid Forces (OHF) under the ongoing Operation ACCORD III. Acting on credible intelligence, the combined forces executed a coordinated ambush at a suspected bandit crossing point in the Ofere Forest and Ayetoro Gbede axis. This strategic move led to the death of Kachala, who was a top figure in the criminal hierarchy led by Kachala Shuaibu.
Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the breakthrough in a statement on Saturday, highlighting the professionalism and resilience of the security agencies. He noted that their consistent collaboration and swift response to intelligence have been crucial in the fight against banditry, providing a sense of security and renewed confidence for residents of Kogi State.
The military is urging the public to continue their support by providing actionable intelligence to security agencies, reiterating its commitment to restoring peace and stability across the state.
