CALABAR, CROSS RIVER – The Office of the Wife of the Governor (OWOG) of Cross River State, in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) and the 3rd Assembly Cross River State Youth Parliament, today spearheaded a major awareness campaign and walk against drug abuse.
The initiative, themed “The Evidence is Clear: Invest in Prevention, Break the Cycle,” aimed to sensitize the public on the pervasive dangers of substance abuse.
The event, which commenced at Millennium Park and concluded at the NDLEA office in Calabar, saw the participation of various stakeholders and distinguished leaders. The walk served as a platform for advocacy, enlightenment and community mobilization against drug dependency, with a particular focus on promoting healthy lifestyles among the youth and breaking the cycle of addiction.
Leading the charge for the youth was the trailblazing first female Speaker of the Cross River State Youth Parliament, Rt. Hon. Ugeh Comfort Mona. She reaffirmed her dedication to initiatives that prioritize the welfare and development of young people in the state, emphasizing her goal to create an environment where youth can thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.
Mr. Kenneth Anam represented the Office of the Wife of the Governor, while other representatives from the NDLEA were also prominently featured during the campaign.
