A federal high court in Abuja, has extended an interim order preventing the Imo State Government, police and other authorities from destroying, defacing or removing billboards belonging to federal lawmaker Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere.
The billboards are located across his Ideato North and Ideato South Federal Constituency in Imo State.
The order also applies to agents, officials or other individuals acting on behalf of the respondents.
They include the Inspector-General of Police, the Imo State Governor, the state’s signage and advertising agency, the chairmen of Ideato North and Ideato South Local Government Areas, and the Imo State Commissioner of Police.
The State Security Service and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps are also named as respondents.
The Federal Capital Territory High Court, presided over by Justice Kayode Agunloye, extended the interim order following an application by Ugochinyere for it to remain in place during the court’s vacation.
The ruling was delivered on July 28, but a certified copy has now been obtained by AIT.
The court says the order will remain in force pending the hearing of the substantive application.
The case has been adjourned until November 4.
