Mexican Police Officer Gets Promotion After Breastfeeding An Infant Who Went Two Days Without Food After Devastating Hurricane

A police officer in Mexico has been promoted and widely celebrated as a hero after breastfeeding a starving infant who had gone two days without food following a devastating hurricane.

The officer, identified as Arizbeth Dionicio Ambrosio, was on rescue duty in the aftermath of Hurricane Otis, which slammed into Acapulco and surrounding areas, leaving widespread destruction, flooding, and thousands of families displaced.

During a patrol through one of the hardest-hit neighborhoods, the police team came across a desperate mother holding her four-month-old baby. According to reports, the mother had been unable to feed her child for nearly two days as food supplies, clean water, and baby formula were completely cut off by the storm.

The infant was severely dehydrated, crying weakly, and showing signs of malnutrition.

Moved by the situation, Officer Arizbeth, who is herself a mother and was still breastfeeding her own child, did not hesitate to offer to nurse the baby.

Photos of the officer breastfeeding the infant while still in her police uniform quickly went viral on social media, drawing praise from across Mexico and beyond.

“At that moment, I didn’t see a uniform, I just saw a mother who needed help and a baby who was hungry,” the officer later said.

The act of compassion caught the attention of senior officials in the Mexican Security Secretariat, who described her action as an embodiment of humanity, service, and the true spirit of policing.

In recognition of her selflessness, the state government announced her immediate promotion to a higher rank, alongside a formal commendation for exemplary service.

The mother of the infant has since been reunited with family and provided with relief materials, while the baby is reported to be in stable condition and receiving medical care.

The story has sparked an outpouring of support online, with many Nigerians and Mexicans hailing Officer Arizbeth as a symbol of motherhood and kindness in the face of disaster.
