The crash, which occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. along the busy Keffi–Akwanga highway, left the Deputy Speaker’s vehicle severely damaged, sparking immediate concern across the state’s political landscape.

During the inspection, Dr. Jatau described the Deputy Speaker’s escape from the mangled remains of the vehicle as “nothing short of divine intervention.” He noted that the sheer scale of the wreckage suggested a far more tragic outcome was avoided only by grace.

“The extent of damage to the vehicle underscores the severity of the crash,” Dr. Jatau stated. “Hon. Oyanki’s survival is a miracle, and we are here today primarily to return all thanks to God.”

The Speaker was accompanied by several members of the House, who joined him in offering prayers for Oyanki’s continued health and swift recovery. Dr. Jatau emphasized that the legislative body remains united and will provide full support to the Deputy Speaker during his recuperation after the ghastly motor accident along Keffi–Akwanga Highway around 10:00 a.m., Monday.

No lives were lost in the accident and Speaker Jatau reaffirmed the Assembly’s gratitude, noting that the entire House is relieved that the “unfortunate incident” did not result in a fatality.

The House of Assembly has not yet released further details regarding the specific cause of the accident, though the inspection highlights the ongoing safety concerns on the state’s major transit routes.
