The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the first batch of senatorial candidates who emerged from its completed primary elections across 34 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a source within the party, the list contains candidates whose nominations have been concluded and ratified, while some senatorial districts were omitted because primaries are either pending, inconclusive, or yet to be conducted.
In the South-East, former Abia State Governor Orji Uzor Kalu secured the APC ticket for Abia North Senatorial District. Other candidates include Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jr for Abia South and Emeka Atuma for Abia Central. In Anambra State, Nelson Onubuogu, Kene Chiedu Ngozi Benedicta and Chibuogu Oraelusi emerged as candidates for Anambra North, Central and South respectively.
The party also cleared Osita Ngwu for Enugu West, Kelvin Chukwu for Enugu East and Ikeje Asogwa for Enugu North. In Imo State, Alex Mbata emerged for Imo East, Governor Hope Uzodimma secured the ticket for Imo West, while Patrick Ndubueze clinched the nomination for Imo North.
In the North-East, Governor Umaru Fintiri emerged as APC candidate for Adamawa North, while Felix Tangwami secured the ticket for Adamawa South. Bauchi State produced Yakubu Abdullahi for Bauchi South and Ibrahim Baba for Bauchi North.
Borno State candidates include Kaka Shehu for Borno Central, Ali Ndume for Borno South and Tahir Monguno for Borno North. Governor Inuwa Yahaya emerged for Gombe North, while Mohammed Ahmed and Jerry Damara secured the tickets for Gombe Central and Gombe South respectively.
In the North-West, APC candidates include Babangida Hussain for Jigawa North-West, Ahmed Malam Madori for Jigawa North-East and Sani Garba for Jigawa South-West.
Kaduna State produced former Governor Ramalan Yero for Kaduna North, Shehu Sani for Kaduna Central and Sunday Katung for Kaduna South. Other notable candidates from the zone include Deputy Senate President Jibrin Barau for Kano North, former Kano State Governor Ibrahim Shekarau for Kano Central, Adamu Aliero for Kebbi Central, Aliyu Wamakko for Sokoto Central and Abdulaziz Yari for Zamfara West.
In the South-South, Senate President Godswill Akpabio secured the APC ticket for Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District. Aniekan Bassey and Ekong Sampson emerged for Akwa Ibom North-East and South respectively.
Bayelsa State candidates include Fidelis Agbiki, Friday Kombowei Benson and Israel Sunny-Goli for Bayelsa West, Central and East. In Cross River State, Jarigbe Jarigbe, Oden Ewa and Asuquo Ekpenyong secured nominations for the North, Central and South districts respectively.
Delta State produced Senator Ede Dafinone for Delta Central, former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for Delta North and Joel-Onowakpo Thomas for Delta South. Rivers State candidates include Felix Obuah, Allwell Onyesoh and Barry Mwara.
In the South-West, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele emerged for Ekiti Central, while Lagos State candidates are Wasiu Eshinlokun, Idiat Adebule and Tokunbo Abiru for Lagos Central, West and East respectively.
Governor Dapo Abiodun secured the Ogun East ticket, while Jimoh Ojugbele and Shuaib Salisu emerged for Ogun West and Ogun Central. Ondo State candidates include Gbenga Elegbeleye, Taiwo Fasoranti and Isaacs Kekemeke, while Osun State produced Francis Fadahunsi, Adekunle Adeogoke and Akintunde Oyebiyi.
In the North-Central zone, APC candidates include Dave Padopads-Awunah for Benue North-West, Gabriel Suswam for Benue North-East and Francis Agbo for Benue South.
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello secured the ticket for Kogi Central, while Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq emerged for Kwara Central.
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule clinched the ticket for Nasarawa North, while Niger State candidates include Idris Kutigi, Sani Musa and Sani Bello.
Plateau State candidates are David Barji, former Governor Simon Lalong and Simon Mwadkwon for Plateau Central, South and North respectively.
In Edo State, Senator Adams Oshiomhole secured the APC ticket for Edo North, while Joseph Ikpea and Ogbeide-Ihama Omoregie emerged for Edo Central and Edo South.
For the Federal Capital Territory, the party nominated former Senate Minority Leader Philip Aduda as its senatorial candidate.
The APC stated that senatorial districts not included in the current release are awaiting the completion of primaries or the resolution of outstanding issues.
According to party officials, factors such as internal disputes, zoning arrangements, logistical challenges and postponed exercises contributed to the delay in some areas.
The party assured members that the list would be updated as remaining primaries are concluded and ratified ahead of the submission of candidates’ names to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in line with the timetable for the 2027 general elections.
